Jan Koks is a filmmaker who was born in August 1995. He first began his journey in the world of visual storytelling by studying to become an AudioVisual Specialist at the ROC A12 Ede in 2018, before going on to attend the Netherlands Film Academy where he studied cinematography and graduated in 2021.

While at the Film Academy, Jan set himself apart as a promising filmmaker with one of his graduation films. The film, titled "Preacher's Kid," won the VPRO-documentary award for best graduation documentary. This achievement showcases Jan's skill and talent in the field of cinematography, and has been a great recognition of his abilities.

Jan's passion for visual storytelling is evident in all that he does, and he is constantly seeking new and innovative ways to push the boundaries of film and visual storytelling. He takes on new and challenging projects with great enthusiasm and is dedicated to honing his craft to become one of the industry's leading voices.

Growing up in the Netherlands has made Jan aware of the variety of cultures and communities that call the country home, which influence him in the way he tells stories on film. His works show a strong sense of community and human connections, which is truly unique. He wants to tell personal emotionally stories and has a desire to capture the human experience in all its complexity. His goal is to create work that connects with people on a deep emotional level, and he believes that by telling personal and emotionally charged stories, he can help to build empathy and understanding in the world.
